How it works
The TargetCool device delivers a precisely controlled burst of CO₂ cryogen to the target lesion, rapidly cooling it to -79°C. This extreme cold causes intracellular ice crystal formation, rupturing the cell membranes of the abnormal tissue and triggering necrosis. The lesion typically darkens, crusts, and falls off over 1–2 weeks — leaving clear skin underneath. The device's infrared sensors maintain precise temperature control to protect surrounding tissue.
Who is it for?
Skin tags; warts (verrucae); seborrheic keratoses; benign pigmented lesions; actinic keratoses; any patient wanting quick, in-office removal of benign lesions without surgical procedures.
Who is it not for?
Malignant or suspicious lesions (require biopsy and dermatology referral); cold allergy (cryoglobulinemia); Raynaud's disease; open wounds over treatment area; pregnancy (consult with provider).

Does cryotherapy hurt?
You'll feel a brief, intense cold sensation — similar to touching ice — for the seconds of treatment. There is no injection, no anesthesia, and most patients find it very tolerable. Larger lesions may feel slightly more intense.
Will it leave a scar?
When properly applied, cryotherapy leaves minimal to no scarring. Temporary redness and a small scab form at the treatment site, then resolve to reveal clear skin. Larger or deeper lesions may leave a faint mark that fades over time.
How do I know if my lesion is safe to treat with cryotherapy?
We perform a clinical assessment of every lesion before treatment. If a lesion shows any characteristics concerning for malignancy (asymmetry, irregular borders, multiple colors, rapid growth), we will refer you for dermatology evaluation and biopsy before treating.
